As a consortium, Houston ARCH exists on the basis of cooperative and collaborative public meetings among interested parties.

This brief timeline documents some of the milestones that collaboration has achieved.

August 2008 – The downtown Houston Public Library hosted an LGBT History meeting as part of its monthly LGBT speaker series, bringing together a wide array of people who have been collecting Houston's LGBT history in some shape or form.

December 2008 – An informal lunch was held at Rice University, at which community members discussed the prospects for greater community coordination, and what next steps might look like.  The consensus was that not all of the stake-holders were involved in the conversation, and another meeting should be convened.

First meeting – January 28, 2009 – An initial Public Community Interest Meeting was held at the downtown Houston Public Library.

Second meeting – March 25, 2009 – The group picked a name – Houston ARCH (Area Rainbow Collective History).

Third Meeting – May 20, 2009 – This wiki was established; we decided to apply for a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities; preparations made for Pride Houston 2009.
